Michael: He had a patient—I think he was about 12 years old, and he had diabetes. Well, diabetes was a killer in those days, so he’d heard something about a cure for it being developed in Toronto. So he phoned down to Banting’s Institute, got somebody, told him that he had a patient who needed whatever, and the man said, “Well, it’s only been tested on two people.” So my grandfather said, “Look, this lot is probably twelve hours away from dying. Can you put it on the train?” And they put it on the train. He got it, took the horse and buggy, and he went to Corkery and administered it to the lad. He lived.
