George Uffelman’s Farm

Windmills were a common site on the prairies and enabled farms in dry areas to be productive. They harnessed the wind to draw water from the ground. The water was stored in tanks, providing drinking water for the family and animals. Once electricity became more accessible, the windmill became an archaic fixture of the past.
