School Bell

Before the electronic bell marked class times, teachers used a brass bell. A staple of every teacher’s desk, the wooden handled bell signalled the start and dismissal of the school day, and the end of recess and lunch breaks. The teacher would stand at the door and ring the bell to call the pupils in.
