Tokyo Electric Automobile Company Tama, 1947
Nissan Heritage Collection
Built by a company that had previously specialized in the manufacture of fighter planes, the Tokyo Electric Automobile Co. Tama offered mediocre performance, but its low cost and easily-swappable batteries were vital in peacetime Japan, where gasoline shortages were constant. The vehicle won several government commendations for design and ingenuity, and would remain in production until the early 1950s.
