One of Ferdinand Porsche’s early hybrid cars, circa 1905. Porsche (in the driver’s seat, centre) not only invented the idea of incorporating an electric motor directly into a vehicle’s wheels but also created a variety of front-wheel (as seen in this example), rear-wheel, and four-wheel drive cars, trucks, and passenger vehicles.
