Who Is Pam Carter?
You were born and raised in Orillia, what do you remember most about Orillia and growing up?
Orillia was a great place to grow up and it was such a sense of community.
I grew up on a street that was full of kids, we were close to two lakes for swimming all summer, close to tobogganing hills, ski hills, outdoor winter activities. There was a real sense of community and that was really important. My father died when I was quite young so that sense of community was really important to me and to our family.
We went outside after supper to play and didn’t come in until the street lights came on. Street hockey, street baseball, hide and seek and it was just a great place. You could walk to school, you could walk to high school, walk to the YMCA. It was a great place to grow up.
