Connecting a Community – Marci Csumrik

In 1963, at the age of five, Marci Csumrik’s parents headed north, saying goodbye to their life in Toronto and hello to Orillia’s historic North Ward.

This map of North Simcoe from 1966 shows what Orillia and surrounding towns looked like just 3 years after Marci arrived with her family.

Growing up on Neywash Street, Marci’s school, church, the local YMCA, and friends were all within walking distance of her house and because of this experience, she describes Orillia as an idyllic community, making her decision to start a career as a local real estate agent all the more meaningful.

Through her work, Marci is one of the first points of contact for newcomers, which provides her the opportunity to introduce people to all that Orillia has to offer, in all four seasons, including group clubs, museums, the library, theatre, lakes, and so much more.

When Marci isn’t encouraging community growth through real estate, she is connecting with her community through volunteering and philanthropy. Marci supports numerous organizations in Orillia, such as the Orillia Youth Centre, The Comfie Cat Shelter, and The Sharing Place Food Centre. In her free time, Marci volunteers for various organizations, including Ripple of Kindness (led by Amber McGarvey-Moreland and Raquel Ness), the Orillia Business Women’s Association and the Orillia District Chamber of Commerce, which earned her Orillia’s Citizen of the Year Award in 2021.

…you still see the quirkiness of it.
I think that’s the charm of Orillia…
