Councilling a Community – Mason Ainsworth

Mason Ainsworth’s impact on Orillia’s political environment has been undeniable. When he was elected as a councillor for the City of Orillia’s Ward 3 at the age of 22, he was then the youngest elected official in Orillia’s history.

Mason felt that in his role as a councillor he could make a meaningful impact in the areas that mattered most to the people of the city of Orillia, especially having lived there all his life.

His memories of riding the bike trails around the lakefront, enjoying nature in Scout Valley, and volunteering for local causes inspired Mason’s desire to give back to his community.

Some of Mason’s accomplishments from his time on city council include improvements to the city’s transit system, encouraging economic development by bringing in more businesses, fostering growth through a downtown community improvement plan, and supporting the Building Hope initiative.

However, it is not the grand accomplishments in which Mason takes the most pride, but rather it’s in the small victories that improve the day-to-day lives of the people within his community.
