War Bonds Promotion
Source: John Clarke
Date: 1941
This photo was taken in 1941 during a promotion to encourage shop employees to buy Victory Bonds during the Second World War. John Clarke is standing at the right of centre and this would have been taken shortly after he began working at John Street. General Foreman Bob Scott is handing the bond to John. The women on the right were a mother and daughter employed for cleaning locomotives in the shop. “AS AN APPRENTICE/JOHN STREET 1941/MOTHER & DAUGHTER/VICTORY SAVINGS DRIVE” is stamped on the bottom of the photograph.
