Michelle describes her decision to return to working with a railway company.
Michelle Ardron: “Transport Canada was great, I got to see and do many, many things there over my career and I’m very thankful I was exposed to a lot of different railways, a lot of different railroading. And so, you know, my kids at that time now are grown and have left home and it was time to go back to the industry. So I was looking around at options and an opportunity came at VIA for one of their manager train operation positions in Toronto. There was another job offer on the table with another railway, but I chose the VIA one because it was a national carrier and it was passenger and it was not something I, other than working GO trains for CP (CP had the Milton Line) I really had not much exposure to the passenger side of the house and I had dealt with VIA as a railway safety inspector.”
