Doug Fink Oral History | Picariello and Bootlegging (00:36)
Fernie Museum
I could hear the truck going past with a load of booze on it, but my Dad always said “Don’t go on that road! He’ll run over you, he won’t stop for nothin’!” It was an Italian fellow, Picariello. He went up to Blairmore and he used to be right where the Alberta Hotel was then. There was a place right across from where the old station is now, there was a tunnel under the roadway and they used to bring all their booze from the station over underground the hotel there.
