Les and Janet Whitford’s Gleneden property was rented as a staging area during the fire. Forestry tents were set up, trailers brought in, and helicopters landed in the field.
Environment Canada used the Whitford’s garage to monitor weather conditions. Some Environment Canada staff slept in the Whitford home. [1]
The staff of Fireweed Contracting fed up to 250 people a day during the Silver Creek Fire. The portable kitchen was in a specially designed trailer that belonged to the Forest Service.
