“I recall a feeling of helplessness based on the magnitude of the incident, immediate resources available, and probably lack of sleep….prior to the arrival of the 50+ fire trucks and approximately 200 firefighters from around the province. As the convoy of trucks arrived at the Public Works staging area in the early morning, a tremendous sense of relief overcame me…”
Earl Roberts, Training Officer
Salmon Arm Fire Department
Firefighters from Salmon Arm and Silver Creek were assisted by crews and trucks from many Lower Mainland and Interior municipalities during the height of the forest fire emergency, standing guard over homes and businesses. Here the crews, backed by their apparatus, make an impressive display as they assemble at the Salmon Arm Community Centre to receive thanks from Salmon Arm Fire Chief, Ken Tebo.
