First Hawboldt engine 1906

A Hawboldt make and break engine with a fly wheel and one cylinder developed in 1906 by Forman Hawboldt. This engine was developed in the first workshop behind his house on Queen Street in Chester in 1906.

This is a model of the first one – cylinder engine designed by Forman Hawboldt.  One like this was used to power a boat around Chester Harbour to a cheering crowd of on-lookers marking the beginning of a change in the Atlantic fishery.
