42 members of the Calgary Fire Department have passed away in the line of duty, or of presumptive illnesses. The annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial gives the Department and public a chance to mourn their loss, and remember their sacrifice. As each name is read out, the bell is rung to commemorate them. The event is an emotional time.
