FMC Collection
Morley James died at the Forest Lawn hotel fire in July 1992, the last Calgary firefighter to fall in the line of active duty. James was overcome by smoke and became disorientated. He was unable to escape. Subsequent investigations discovered that the fire had been started deliberately.
The Honour Guard helped to organize Morley James’ funeral, and during the procession on July 16th 1992, the Guard led the march through Calgary, giving citizens the chance to pay their respects.
