Generator (Simone Duval)
Around 3:30, the sump pump alarm went off. I said, “Come quickly, Roger, it’s the sump pump alarm!” We ran down to the basement. My son’s bedroom was down there. My 26-year- old son was the only one still at home, my other two children were married. We saw right away that it was a very serious situation, because we tried to pump out the water but were unable to. So I said to my husband, “Quick, quick, go get a generator, rent one or buy one if you have to!” When he arrived at Loutec, he saw that we were not the only ones who had realized that the ice storm had begun. It was water in the beginning but then it all froze up. They told him, “Rotten luck, Mr. Duval, there are none left. There are no more generators.”
