The son of Italian immigrants who settled in Peterborough in 1909, Father Francis Marrocco became involved in assisting displaced persons and immigrants and working with government. As Director of Immigration for the International Refugee Organization, he developed material for citizenship training. He brought this same dedication to the Institute of Social Action in Ottawa. He understood that education could help people help themselves and that, by working together, they would enhance their families and communities.
