Co-operative homebuilding required the strong alliance of husband and wife as well as the teamwork of the men who would build together. The wives were vigilant on the home front and for co-op women Dorothy Forbes and Pat Chave, regular visits to the building site were an important show of support and welcome day out for the family.
Dorothy and Pat met during the study period. They visited every Sunday evening to see how the houses were coming along. Their husbands also knew each other through work. By the time they moved into their newly built homes, there was already a bond of friendship. Even as the 65th anniversary of the co-op approached, the two remained firm friends.
