Although this book is the story of a life, it was also an insightful and ‘well used’ source of information about the ‘sweat equity’ co-operative movement in Ontario. It provided a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the people who built homes. She recalls meeting with some of the Grimsby builders and dedicated Chapter 8 to their story. Rita witnessed first hand his commitment to social justice and the effect it had on people and communities. She would begin to write his biography after his death n 1975. It was published in 2002.
