There were different age cohorts within the kid community. The older kids had moved in at age 9 or 10, though most were only 2 or 3. A younger co-op generation was born through the 1960s.
It’s interesting that a number of these kids, as grown ups, could get in touch very easily. Even today, they still know the names of most siblings within most families. When they don’t know a name, they will recognize the family resemblance. When they gather for celebrations or funerals, they act like an extended family. Some co-op kids even married each other.
