A member of the Regroupement des propriétaires du marais de Grondines, Sylvain Duval took the initiative a step further. When he bought his land in 1993, he noticed that when the tide went out, numerous pools formed, trapping many fish that died from lack of water. The following year, he set in motion a major project: digging ponds and connecting them to each other and to the river to prevent fish loss. Gradually, 70 ponds were created, contributing to the protection of the wetland environment and the conservation of habitat for numerous species of wildlife.
