Down with the towers!

Jean-Paul Paré sits in the converted attic of Micheline Beauchemin’s Grondines home. Behind him are fabrics and a cupboard full of weaving threads.

[Jean-Paul Paré] I remember that one fine morning she said to me:

“Hello, listen, come and help us over the weekend. I’d like us to erect on the grounds of the Hotel Bon Soir like a wooden Hydro tower and burn it!”

We… I remember going behind the barn looking for some wood, cedar poles, to make like a Hydro tower, some… four large pieces towards the top and then other wood at the bottom. And then we set it on fire at some point, to say: “Down with the towers!”

I built it in the morning and we burned it that same day.

But I think that was an important point on this side here, on the north side, while there were other people also doing their best to push against those towers.
