This watercolor drawing by Elizabeth Simcoe (1762-1850) provides an exceptional representation of Grondines’ first settlement near the river. Under the identification “Grondines”, we can make out the common mill (right), the church (center) and two dwellings (left). A sketch of these buildings can also be seen in the lower left-hand corner of the drawing.
