In 1968, Madeleine and Jean-Guy Devault bought the former J.E. Blais store, which had been closed for years. No more than 13 feet wide, it seems frozen in time. The shelves are still filled with bottles of all kinds gathering dust.
After several renovations to enlarge the store, Jean-Guy finally opened his own store in the early summer of 1970. Benoit Rivard took over the butchery counter, competing with Isidore the butcher! But it didn’t last long. After 10 months, the adventure came to an end.
The following year, in 1971, the old store welcomed the caisse populaire, which remained there until 1989.
The J.E. Blais store was located at 233 chemin Sir-Lomer-Gouin.
