List of students at the sixth Grondines school, 1831

The list of pupils at the sixth Grondines school includes 17 boys aged 4 to 17, and 20 girls aged 4 to 29. This list clearly shows the scope of the schoolmaster’s or mistress’s task!
When trustee schools were created, they were required to submit a report to the government, indicating which pupils were “paying” and which children from poor families were admitted free of charge. In 1831, at the sixth school in Grondines, all 37 pupils were registered as “poor pupils”.
