By the 1970s many of the thousands of cars which took to the open road between the 1930s and 1950s had been traded in, scrapped, or parked in fields and forests to rust away. In 1975, the Ontario Ministry of the Environment ran this information sheet in local newspapers to promote a new program that would see abandoned vehicles recycled in an effort to curb waste.
