The printing block for the stationery at Estevan featured the effigy of the salmon over the words “Grand-Metis”. The letterhead was identical to that used by Stephen at Les Fourches, where the address was instead “Causapscal”. The stationery evolved little over decades, occasionally printed in black and white, occasionally in colour.
Estevan was a place where there was a great deal of time spent fishing – but just as much on other pastimes. Letter writing was certainly among them. Receiving a letter from Grand-Metis usually began with the customary salutation – followed by a retelling of the latest success with rod and reel.
