At a meeting of the governing board of the Coaticook Harmony Band that was held on March 25th, 1992, it was decided to work to arrange a cultural exchange with a country in Europe, ideally France. The municipality of Jallais, not far from Angers in the Maine-et-Loire region, was chosen. The first exchange happened in 1993, and others have continued ever since that time.
