Relocation of the Church

The film is silent. We first see the community’s church set up near the lake, on the site known as “down the hill”. Men are preparing its foundation (emptying it) for the church installation on a trailer truck. The objective is to relocate the church on the new community site. Once the church is raised, a moving platform is inserted under the church with the help of machinery. The trailer truck on which it is installed then begins to travel up the hill leading to the site of the new village known as “up the hill”. The road is empty, suggesting that the 13 small houses have already been moved to the new site. The path is lined with electric pylons because, in the last years before the move, electricity had been installed in the houses “down the hill”. Once on the new site, we see some of the new houses in the new village. Anicinabek people are watching the scene. Cars drive on the few unpaved roads. The church is then placed on a new foundation adjacent to a newly built presbytery. Then, we see the site “down the hill” empty except for a small building facing the lake. We see men working on the roof of the church and its steeple installed on the new site. We are shown the front of the building and the overall covering of the building that has been redone. Finally, we see young Anicinabek children sitting in the community.
