Ambrose Two Chiefs (Es-Kim-Ar-Wo-Ta-Me), The “Great War” Deeds of Corporal Mike Mountain Horse, hide, paint, 122.0 x 108.0 x 4.5 cm, First World War
Mike Mountain Horse was from the Kainai (Blood) First Nation in southwestern Alberta when he enlisted in 1916. He served with the 191st Battalion and was later transferred to the machine gun section of the 50th Battalion. He fought at Vimy Ridge and Amiens amongst other battles, and he was wounded three times. This story robe describes his battle honours in a traditional way.
