Infantry Regimental Crest Embroidery
Collection of Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Regimental Museum and Archives, Calgary, Alberta
embroidery thread, cotton, 32.5 x 24.0 cm, First World War
This hand-embroidered Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) regimental crest from the First World War was given to C.S. Frost in England during the Second World War. A woman stitched it for her fiancé, who was a member of the PPCLI. She intended to give it to him when he returned to England on leave, but he never saw the work as he was killed in France.
