Many Royal Canadian Navy ships of both World Wars had animal mascots that lived on board. This navy kit bag depicts a ship’s mascot that is likely Freckles, the Springer Spaniel on HMCS Atholl, a corvette that primarily served as an escort to convoys crossing the Atlantic Ocean.
