Lieutenant Bryce Douglas was serving with the 14th Canadian Army Tank Regiment (The Calgary Regiment) when he was taken prisoner on August 19, 1942 during the Dieppe Raid. He was held in a German prisoner of war camp for officers, Oflag VII-B, until he was liberated in April 1945. He made this belt while captive using craft materials supplied by the YMCA.
