Dollard Saint-Laurent, a Verdunite among the Montréal Canadiens

Born in Verdun on May 12, 1929, Dollard Saint-Laurent began his career as a hockey player at the Verdun Auditorium, with the Montréal Junior Canadiens team. A robust defenceman, he joined the Montréal Canadiens team in the 1951-1952 season. The following year, he won his first Stanley Cup with the team, and then three other Stanley Cups in 1956, 1957 and 1958. During the 1957-1958 season, his last with the Montréal Canadiens, the defenceman’s 23 points, including 3 goals, proved to be his best season of all. He was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks on June 3, 1958. During his career, Dollard Saint-Laurent played 652 games in the National Hockey League, scoring a total of 29 goals. He also took part in 92 play-off series games, where he scored 24 points, including 2 goals. This Verdun star passed away on April 6, 2015.
