(Barbara Ann Scott) Ladies and gentlemen, I’m so happy to be in Montreal. It was a grand feeling to win the World Championship and the European Championship, but my heart still goes to Canada. European people were marvellous, but there’s nothing like a good Canadian crowd (applause). The last two months seem to be a dream. As I was trying to say in French, I feel a bit like a newborn Cinderella. I am happy that my first public appearance in Montreal should be for charity. I have seen so much misery overseas that I believe none of us ever should relent in trying to help the poor out of trouble. Thank you, Montreal. Thank you, Verdun. And thanks to the Depression Hockey League for this splendid welcome.
