As soon as it opened to the public, the Auditorium hosted wrestling galas. These large-scale events, where muscle mass and athletic feats are highlighted, were very popular in Québec. In the 1950s, Radio-Canada even presented wrestling evenings on television. In the fall of 1952, these fights were broadcast live every Tuesday from the Verdun Auditorium. Every week, hundreds of thousands of TV viewers were glued to their screen to watch these athletes in action.
