The building that became the home of Louis Avila Audet in 1884 had, in fact, been built three years before, in 1881, by the Magog Catholic School Board. The school board’s first construction project, this house, measuring 24 feet by 40 feet, was meant to serve as a school. As the photograph shows, this building was located between Main Street and the Magog River. It was then sold to Mr. Audet, a notary, (standing to the left) after the railroad was built between the house and the river.
