During the 1950s, antiques were so undervalued in Quebec that it was Americans who picked up furniture, farm and industrial machinery, quilts and grandfather clocks for a pittance.

Gilles Mathieu was a pioneer in this field and participated in a revaluation of Quebec’s heritage.
