Bon-Conseil – Back to work!
(August 17, 1967, handwritten)
CHICOUTIMI – The eight employees of the Bon-Conseil Congregation’s farm in Chicoutimi who went on strike last Wednesday returned to work yesterday afternoon.
The Bon-Conseil Congregation’s negotiator, Pierre Bergeron Esq., came to an agreement with the union for the employees to return to work immediately, while negotiations for a first labour contract will continue over the coming days.
The Bon-Conseil de Chicoutimi farm employees were accredited by the CSN (Quebec national union association) in November 1966. The employees of the Bon-Conseil General House, also members of the same union, had remained at their posts until last Wednesday.
No negotiations had taken place to that point. However, since last Monday, Mr. Bergeron had undertaken negotiations with the CSN representative, Mr. Lucien Simard, which, yesterday, led to a decision to return to work, while union leaders and management discuss the terms of a first labour contract for the community.
