After removing the eels caught in each collecting box, Simon Beaulieu, like all fishers, checks the state of his eel weir, which is exposed to strong winds and high waves. He must clean out each trap, including the entrance to the ansillon, or first funnel, in order to remove all of the seaweed left there by the most recent tide. He must also make any necessary repairs.
