Jérémie has learned by observing his parents, just like previous generations of Beaulieus did before him.
Jérémie Beaulieu opens the sliding lid of the collecting box of an eel trap.
When we asked Jérémie’s mother, Josée Malenfant, if there was going to be a new generation of eel fishers, she said:
“You pretty well know the answer already.”
Jérémie looks inside the collecting box. He closes the lid and nails it shut. He takes his saillebarde, a type of large net mounted on a square frame equipped with a handle, which is leaning against the box, and heads to shore.
