In Mauricie, several outfitters and zecs offer speckled trout (brook trout) fishing. Although speckled trout is commonly fished in stocked lakes, it can still be found in its wild state in many areas.
Recognizable features include its colouration, which varies according to its habitat. However, it always has small red spots surrounded by a blue halo.
This fish has a large mouth with teeth, and the males sometimes develop hooks on the front of their lower jaw.
The speckled trout is a carnivore whose diet varies according to its habitat.
