First snowshoe walk

These school children have just completed their first snowshoe walk together.  Much like a child’s first steps on the ground, first steps on snowshoes are also greeted with ceremony.  Everyone turns out to watch the children walk with an elder in a large loop.  The children are hugged and greeted upon their return.  Later a feast of traditional foods is prepared for all who attended.
