TRANSCRIPT:
He started up a few businesses here anyway, he owned a few buildings in St. John’s, had the first bowling alleys, first billiards I think too. He had a dry goods business I know. My sister would know more about this than I would because I am the baby of the family. My father [George] went to school in Beirut, Lebanon when he was about he figures about [10] years old and came back in his early 20s, was going to study dentistry I think and his father wanted him to come back home to help with the business so he gave that up and came back home. He used to do a lot of the buying for the business so he would do a bit of travelling to, you know, Montreal and New York, and you know Boston and these places kind of thing. And they had a [badminton] court on top of the Noah building downtown. It was on the roof, you had to go through the building.
