In 2008, a vegetable garden was created on the Maison LePailleur’s grounds. There, visitors learn about the types of gardens cultivated in Lower Canada, the techniques used and the plants grown.
In addition to discovering foods and aromatic herbs used in Lower Canadian kitchens, visitors those who visit garden can learn about the medicinal plants favoured at the time and the properties or beliefs associated with them.
It’s a great way to honor Catherine LePailleur, born Jérémie, the first woman herbalist in Quebec.
