In 1998, the Société du Musée du Grand Châteauguay moved into Maison LePailleur. The estate of the same name, which also includes Maison Gravel, was acquired by Ville de Châteauguay at the Society’s suggestion, with the aim of preserving it.
Over the years, the institution grew and professionalized its processes to eventually become a museum recognized by the Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communications.
The team works to preserve the physical and intangible heritage of the surrounding area and to offer activities to visitors, local and not: permanent and temporary exhibitions, talks, historical events and traditional skills workshops.
