Marie-Rose Descarries

Marie-Rose was born in Lachine in 1895. Her father was the politician and former mayor of Lachine, Joseph-Adélard Descarries, and her mother was Célina-Elmire LePailleur.
At the age of 34, Marie-Rose played the role of Gemma in the opera L’Intendant Bigot by J.-U. Voyer. During her musical career, the singer made several appearances on Radio-Canada radio programs.
When she married Charles-Henri Couture in 1931, her brother, musician Auguste Descarries, played the organ.
Marie-Rose taught piano for 25 years after her singing career.
She died in Saint-Hubert at the age of 77.
