Verna Minnaberriet, great-granddaughter of Louis Joseph Antoine Globe, first becomes Miss Ashcroft and is then crowned as “BC Indian Princess” in 1975. The pageant was sponsored by the Native Women’s Society of BC. Launched in the early 1960s, the contest seems to have closed down in 1975. Verna would thus have been the last to wear this crown.
Dr. Verna Billy-Minnaberriet (EdD) is now an educational leader and researcher who has committed her life to educational development for First Nations communities.
