William Isnardy’s Memorial Plaque

First World War Memorial Plaque presented to the family of William Isnardy, who died in battle in France. The family of all military personnel from the British Empire losing their life during that war received this plaque, embossed with the name of the deceased. These are sometimes added to family tombstones, even though the deceased’s remains are buried abroad. Sadly, in many cases, they have become the target of metal thieves.
The telegram announcing his death in 1917:
Original grave marker of Private William Isnardy, 29th Vancouver Batallion. Wounded in battle, he died of his injuries and was buried at the Sains-en-Gohelle cemetery, Pas-de-Calais, France
